Ardi or Ardipitecus ramidus the oldest human fossil pointing to the evolution of us as humans. She is estimated to be 4.4 million years old. This idea does not conflict with the teachings of Nichiren  Buddhism. In fact the methodology of understanding this phenomena is in fact a Buddhist concept.

The profound Buddhist teachings of Nichiren Buddhist teach that, 1. appearance 2. Nature and 3. Entity are the substance of all phenomena. Also the power, influence, inherent cause, relation, latent effect and manifest effect are the functions of all phenomena and all things function in the universe this way.

Let me be clear the Buddhism that we practice is Nichiren  Buddhism and our teachings of Buddhism are based on the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin who we call the “Messenger of the Buddha.” There are several dynamics associated with my lecture; the first is to delineate Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism from the cosmology of the Judeo/Christian/Islamic origins of life and the Universe. Secondly we delineate Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism from other Buddhist teachings. Thirdly we delineate these teachings from other religions and philosophies.

This lecture is about Ardi or Ardipitecus ramidus the oldest human fossil pointing to the evolution of us as humans. It is not just the phenomena of Ardipitecus that we are lecturing about but we are teaching the Nichiren Shoshu methodology of all phenomena in the universe. Whether the phenomena is wining a multi-million dollar lottery, becoming President of America, escaping death or the simple fact of us just simply being born in the world we Nichiren  Buddhism explains all phenomena as Nam Myoho Renge Kyo and all phenomena can be explained via a Buddhist theory called Ichinen Sanzen or literally 3000 aspects in a single moment.

Let us take the aspect of Ardi or Ardipitecus ramidus. The Judeo/Christian religion teaches that the cosmology of the universe in the Bible in their book of Genesis. When we compare the findings of Ardipitecus ramidus and compare such theories to the Christian Genesis we will find a conflict of science and religion.

Over 3000 years ago Shakyamuni Buddha of India preached in the Lotus Sutra about the cosmology of the Universe and phenomena. Tendai of China systemized the teachings in a theory called Ichinen Sanzen. It was Nichiren Daishonin of Japan the true Buddha of our time who gives us a clear understanding of life and phenomena with his teaching of Ichinen Sanzen or 3000 aspects in a single moment.

    1. Appearance: attributes of things discernible from the outside, such as color, form, shape, and behavior. We have an appearance of Ardipitecus.

2. Nature: the inherent disposition or quality of a thing or being that cannot be discerned from the outside. T'ient'ai characterizes it as unchanging and irreplaceable. The nature of fire, for instance, is unchanging and cannot be replaced by that of water. He also refers to the "true nature," which he regards as the ultimate truth, or Buddha nature. Ardipitecus had a nature based on the scientific findings of her life and environment.

3. Entity: the essence of life that permeates and integrates appearance and nature. These first three factors describe the reality of life itself. The next six factors, from the fourth, power, through the ninth, manifest effect, explain the functions and workings of life. We have the entity of Ardipitecus.

4. Power: life's potential energy. Every things has some kind of power whereas Ardi at 4.4 million years has the power to influence us in some way shape or form.

5. Influence: the action or movement produced when life's inherent power is activated. Imagine how Ardipitecus is influencing our actions.

6. Internal cause: the cause latent in life that produces an effect of the same quality as itself, i.e., good, evil, or neutral. All phenomena has an Internal cause. I wonder if Ardipitecus knew that 4.4 million years she would influence science. What internal cause do we have that can influence something in the future 4.4 million years from now.

7. Relation: the relationship of indirect causes to the internal cause. Indirect causes are various conditions, both internal and external, that help the internal cause produce an effect. We also can describe Relation as Karma.

8. Latent effect: the effect produced in life when an internal cause is activated through its relationship with various conditions. Ardipitecus is a clear-cut case of “Latent effect,” she was born 4.4. million years ago but the effects of her birth manifested a phenomena 4.4 million years later.

9. Manifest effect: the tangible, perceivable result that emerges in time as an expression of a latent effect and therefore of an internal cause, again through its relationship with various conditions. We clearly see the Manifest effect of Ardipitecus.

10. Consistency from beginning to end: the unifying factor among the ten factors. It indicates that all of the other nine factors from the beginning (appearance) to the end (manifest effect) are consistently and harmoniously interrelated. All nine factors thus consistently and harmoniously express the same condition of existence at any given moment. The phenomena of Ardipitecus is consistent from beginning to end.

Digital representations of the Ar. ramidus cranium and mandible released to Reuters on October 1, 2009. This female stood about 1.2 meters high. The skeleton of an early human who lived 4.4 million years ago shows that humans did not evolve from chimpanzee-like ancestors, researchers reported on Thursday. In a special issue of Science, an international team of scientists has for the first time thoroughly described Ardipithecus ramidus, a hominid species that lived in what is now Ethiopia.
