Being at Tozan with so many different nationalities and various
spirits eating together, sleeping together and facing the struggles
at Tozan help one to build a spirit of unity. I like what Rev.
Kuwabe of Washington D.C. explained about Itai Doshin (different
bodies, same mind). Rev. Kuwabe explained the concept as
"different bodies, same spirit". We at Tozan develop the same
spirit or unity. We at the "Proud Black Buddhist" website simply
say that we are "Proud Black Buddhist" meaning that we do not
have to deny our cultural identity to be a Buddhist. Many Black
people get around White and Japanese people and deny their
cultural identity. We Black people at this website are Black, Proud
& Buddhist and we demand that others respect our culture and
demand that we included, considered and respected as others.
