Let me get back to my Buddhist lecture on Barack Obama and Buddhism. Nichiren Daishonin the “True Buddha” writes in the Gosho, “The gift of rice;” The true path of life lies in the affairs of this world. The Konkomyo Sutra reads, "To have a profound knowledge of this world is itself Buddhism." The Nirvana sutra reads, "All scriptures or teachings, from whatever source, are ultimately the revelation of Buddhist truth."
Most religions deal with one day going to heaven and finding a place of bliss and wonder after you die but Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism says; The true path of life lies in the affairs of this world and to have a profound knowledge of this world is itself Buddhism. Further the Daishonin writes “All Scripture or teachings, from whatever source, are ultimately the revelation of Buddhist truth.”

Some people listen to Barack Obama and some say he sounds like Jesus others say he sounds like Mohammad others write that he sounds like Buddha. I like the way that Oprah Winfrey puts it; “Barack Obama is a wise man.” It is absolutely incredulous that a Black man living in America could one day become the President. Barack Obama is an enigma, however to a Buddha the phenomena of Barack Obama is easily understood.

The Gosho (Nichiren Daishonin “The True Buddha” Writings) reads: "only
Buddhas know the “True entity of all phenomena.. the nature form true
entity….. In common everyday lay terms “The phenomena of Barack Obama” can be explained from the stand point of karma. Karma is cause and effect. What does the Gosho or the (Buddhist Bible) say about a man becoming the leader of a nation?
In the Gosho the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin published by the Soka Gakkai on page #328 the Gosho “Pure and Far-Reaching Voice” Nichiren Daishonin Writes; “The ruler of a state is someone who in his former existence far excelled others in keeping the great precepts, and as a result heaven and earth and the various deities permitted him to become a ruler. The degree of merit he has acquired through keeping the precepts determines what country he rules. Two or three persons are not chosen to be ruler (but only one), and the deity kings of earth and heaven, of the oceans and mountains, all gather around and protect him. How then could the people of that state turn their backs on their sovereign?” In plain every day terms Barack Obama is where he is because it is a matter of karma or a cause and effect relationship. Karma is caused by “Words, thoughts Action and Deeds”.

We are who we are because of a matter of Karma. Karma is the sum total of existences and there is a cause and effect relationship to all phenomena. The concept of Karma does not only explain Barack Obama, but Karma explains our existence and our relationship to our environment or in commons sense what we are today.

Through the eyes of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhist teachings the light can be shined on all phenomena. The teaching of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhist teachings is the greatest teachings in the world and the founder Nichiren Daishonin writes; “Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practice and study there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practice and study arise from faith. Teach others to the best of your ability, even if only a single sentence or phrase. The teachings of the Gosho encourages one to persevere and teach others this great Buddhist teachings the very Japanese people or teachers who taught us these wonderful teachings inhibit the spirit and very nature of the teachings by controlling the enthusiastic nature of propagation. I will deal with this issue in more dept in this lecture. Let me bet back to Barack Obama and Buddhism.

The Gosho reads; “"The true entity of all phenomena can only be understood and shared between Buddhas. This reality consists of the appearance, nature...and their consistency from beginning to end." What does this mean?

Answer: It means that all beings and their environments in any of the Ten Worlds, from Hell at the lowest to Buddhahood at the highest, are, without exception, the manifestations of Myoho-renge-kyo. Where there is an environment, there is life within it. Miao-lo states, "Both life (shoho) and its environment (eho) always manifest Myoho-renge-kyo."1 He also states, "The true entity is invariably revealed in all phenomena, and all phenomena invariably possess the Ten Factors. The Ten Factors invariably function within the Ten Worlds, and the Ten Worlds invariably entail both life and its environment."2 And, "Both the life and environment of Hell exist within the life of Buddha. On the other hand, the life and environment of Buddha do not transcend the lives of common mortals."3 Such precise explanations leave no room for doubt. Thus, all life in the universe is clearly Myoho-renge-kyo.
