Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Video Tapes
Capturing The Buddhist Spirit
To whom it may concern: In August of 1996 I traveled to
my first Tozan at Taisekiji Japan. At the time I was advised by my then Priest Rev. Shoshin Kuwabe not to concern myself with video taping but to just enjoy my Tozan. In my heart I wanted to resolved the SGI/Hokkeko issues for myself and my aim was to produce a video diary. I am reminded of the
incidence where a group of Washington D.C. Hokkeko
members confronted me regarding who I was and who
authorized me to video tape. Neither the Priests, the
Nichiren Shoshu lay organization or anyone in authority
encouraged or promoted the video taping by me at Taisekiji.
Un-authorized writing, video taping, and even this web
site is a point of controversy and discussion. Never less we
received compliments and criticisms from both sides
regarding our video taping and this web site. The place where I really got the most support video taping was in Ghana. The members in Ghana welcomed me with open arms and during their Temple opening in February 1998 I was the official
Video photographer . Despite never being offered an official Nichiren Shoshu photo journalist opportunity. We moved forward.  The editing time and hard work has been painful at times but today we rejoice in the fact that we have made great causes for Kosen-Rufu and we succeeded in capturing the spirit of Tozan. Our aim was to provide a historical records via our video tapes.  Video taping and writing are sensitive areas. In 1999 I attempted to document an event at our temple in Chicago and I was denied permission, whereas in Ghana they really appreciate our efforts.  Via this website we will present our exciting videos for you to watch in the future.  In the meantime if you would like a copy please ask us.
