about the Vedas'. The Aryans named the land after themselves to "Aryavarta" or
Aryan land. The Aryans in India introduced the worlds first racist system called
the "Cast System". Caste in Sanskrit is Varna: literally, color. The Aryans
devised a clever method to keep people in check called the Caste system. The
Chandala or Black people were not even in a caste they were the "Out
Castes
". The Aryans in India in regards to inhumanity to another human can put
the American slave owner to shame. When you speak of the "Out Caste" people
of India or the Chandalas you are speaking of Black people the same as when you
speak of Slaves in American you are talking about Black people.

This is how bad it was for the Black Outcaste in India; if a Black man were to even
see food or drink of a white man in India the white man could not even eat the
food. The shadow of an outcaste was even polluting, that means that a White man
in India would not even step on the shadow of an outcast. The outcaste or
Chandala could not even come into a town in the daytime. The Chandala could not
hold his head up high and he could only wear clothes taken from corpses of dead
people. A Chandala had to tie a broom to his back to cover his footprint or any
evidence that he or she had been around. Also a Chandala had to tie a cup
around his neck to capture his spittle. A Chandala could only eat a meal from a
broken plate. A Chandala's sole possessions could only be a donkey and a dog.
If a Chandala even looked up at an Aryan his eyes could be cut out. If a
Chandala were to hear Brahmin teachings molten iron was to be poured into his
ears. The horrors of how bad a Chandala was treated would make you sick.

In the Gosho "The Opening Of the Eyes" the Daishonin writes in the first
paragraph "There are three types of doctrines that are to be studied. They are
Confucianism, Brahmanism and Buddhism. If you were to study Brahmanism you
would learn how much the Brahmins hated the Buddhist. It was the Brahmins that
kicked the Buddhist out of India. It was the Aryan Brahmins that cleverly devised
the castes system that still exist in India to this day. Brahmanism and Hinduism is
really the same religion.

There is a lot I can write about the caste system and the Chandalas of India. The
question that I raise is Nichiren Daishonin's use of the word Chandala. I trust
Nichiren Shoshu's interpretation of what Nichiren Daishonin meant when he said
that he was "born poor and lowly to a Chandala family". One thing that I can
interpret by the statement and that is the Daishonin had a heart for the oppressed
and he identified with the oppressed. I will not take the football and run a touch
down. You make out what you wish out of what the Daishonin wrote. We at this
website have given you information that you may not get from your Priest and if
you study the Gosho "Letter from Sado" the Daishonin also writes; "A sutra
states that both the crow's blackness and the heron's whiteness are actually the
deep stains of their past karma." I refuse to touch that one I have stirred up
enough. At lease you have learned about the Black untouchables of India named
Chandala that Nichiren Daishonin related to. Ask the Nichiren Shoshu Priest to
clarify. I aim is to make you Buddhist study interesting not to offend others.
