Becoming a Nichiren  Buddhist Means Practicing the Buddhist Teachings

To become a Nichiren Buddhist means devoting yourself to the Lotus Sutra. In the Lotus Sutra, there are five kinds of practices that we should perform.

  1. To receive and keep the Sutra in each one's body and mind
  2. To read the Sutra with the eyes
  3. To recite the Sutra
  4. To explain the Sutra to others
  5. To copy the Sutra.
We not only read the Sutra with our eyes but we recite it with a loud voice. We loudly recite chapter two (Hoben-pon) and chapter sixteen (Nyorai Juryo-hon)  services at our  family service in our homes. The reason why these two chapters are recited most often is the two chapters expound the most important teachings of the Lotus Sutra. Chapter 2 expounds that everyone is able to become a Buddha and chapter 16 expounds that Sakyamuni Buddha's life is eternal.
Tina learned to recite the Sutra. We recite them in Japanese and in English. You commit to organizing an Altar at your home. You set aside time to practice morning and evening.  Click on picture. Hear Tina recite part of the sutra.
We will help and guide you to organizing your own Buddhist Sanctury.  There are teaching tools all over the Internet that can assist you at learning how to recite the Lotus Sutra.  Reciting the Sutra sometimes can be hard like jogging.  While jogging is sometimes hard it is very rewarding to you mental, physical and spiritual health.
