Nichiren states in his work The True Aspect of All Phenomena: "There should be no discrimination among those who propagate the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo in the Latter Day of the Law, be they men or women. Were they not Bodhisattvas of the Earth, they could not chant the daimoku. At first only Nichiren chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, but then two, three, and a hundred followed, chanting and teaching others. Propagation will unfold this way in the future as well. Does this not signify 'emerging from the earth'?" (385). See also bodhisattvas of the essential teaching.
How can I start to practice Nichiren Buddhism?
We at the Proud Black Buddhist World Association notes that there are many great Nichiren groups and organizations that you can join to learn the great Buddhist teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. Since you are coming into Buddhism we suggest that you research and study about the groups and find the perfect fit for you.  What is most important is not the doctrines of the groups, what is important is that you find and associate with a group that works for you.  Please use the Internet and study about the Pro's and Con's about the various Nichiren Buddhist Religious Groups.
We at the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association" are Proud, Black, and Buddhist. We do not apologize for our choice of practicing a Buddhism that purposefully integrates an African and African American cultural inclusion.  We are very much like a Black Radio station. We are not trying to be like a top 100 music station.   We love and respect our culture.  We are like a "Tyler Perry Movie."  We love believe and respect our African and African American culture.  We are the "SOUL BUDDHIST." In the 1970's the term "SOUL BROTHER" emerged. We who have studied and learned Buddhism for many years have emerged as the "SOUL BUDDHIST."  We take all of the good stuff that the top Buddhist organizations have and we mix it up with a lot of culture, history and pride.  Japanese do not recognize the Black Buddha.  We do. Resulting you come up with the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association. We integrate Buddhist and Culture.
When Tina Turner started her Buddhist practice she did not have the luxury of attending meetings.  Tina tells the story of how she had to practice, study and develop her Buddhist faith on her own.  Please note one thing about the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin; Nichiren writes in the Gosho: Teachings Pratice and Proof:

Ordinary people like ourselves at the stage of hearing the name and words of the truth can expect to attain Buddhahood by relying on the teachings of the p.476Buddha. The words of the various teachers are in themselves of no use at all. The Buddha gave strict counsel against following them with his statement in the Nirvana Sutra, “Rely on the Law and not upon persons."
