Dear Mario:
How are you today? You remind me so much of myself during my SGI days. I am not frustrated I researched the SGI. What really broke my heart was my going to Ghana in West Africa and being a part of the fight the brothers had with Daisaku Ikeda in Ghana. Daisaku Ikeda paid money to then President Jerry Rawlings. I was in the middle of the fiasco. I was the most devoted SGI member in the world. Many of the things that you bring up in your email I dealt with those issues in the early 1990’s. I know Linda Johnson very well. Linda Johnson was working for the U.S. Department of Justice as an Attorney. It was Linda Johnson who created the Hiroe Clow plot to vilify 67th High Priest Nikken Shonin. The SGI went in the a board Room and created this plot. Linda Johnson got promoted personally by Daisaku Ikeda for her work. I dated a sister who was the 1st SGI staff member. She was half Black and Japanese. I know how the SGI manipulated Sisters into the positions. I have never met a “Strong Will African American brother in the SGI.” When I say strong will I mean a person who is able to infuse our culture and history into the practice. Nichiren Daishonin describes the Lotus Sutra as the Ocean. The Ocean does not reject the rivers. There is room in Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism for the practice to be infused in a “Culturally Communicated Fashion.” I am a “Proud Black Buddhist” that infused this great Buddhism in a culturally communicative manner. I am not angry. When we started Buddhism in Memphis in 1975 we were “Cultural.” I witnessed Daisaku Ikeda set up a system to strip this culture from Buddhism. This is what happen although the SGI have invested over a Billion dollars in America the organization has Zero growth in America. Until African Americans are culturally introduced to Buddhism it will never grow.
Regarding both Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela the SGI paid dearly to both for the photo opportunity. In order for the SGI to deal with the King Institute they laid out millions of dollars and they got Daisaku Ikeda’s picture installed a Morehouse. I was deeply involved with those issues years ago. I just Googled the name Linda Johnson from my website. This is what happen in my life; in 1995 I went on Tozan and learned that the SGI was telling lies to its members. I wrote a document called “The Thief of the Three Treasures.” My SGI friends would not read my document and my then Buddhist Father by the name of Joseph Thomas would not even open my letters.
In order to get my message out I posted the“Thief of the Three Treasures”
on the Web. I no longer get into the SGI/Hokeko issues. I refer to Linda John’s role in her organizing the plot. The Japanese News Paper the Weekly Bunshun reported about her role in the “Conspiratorial Conference.” The Nation of Islam is not in the class with the SGI and neither is Scientology. I asked you to find one single positive story Regarding the SGI by any major news media. The Nation of Islam’s is covered by major media and they are not a cult. My Goodness the Million man march was a movie and Scientology can produce positive stories by major media. In your email you write; “ President Ikeda was approached not the other way around, I don't think it is relevant whether or not he meets with a U.S president, he has sent peace proposals to every sitting president since JFK . My goodness my friend you do not understand the SGI’s marketing department. There has got to be one positive story of the SGI outside of its internal publications. When Daisaku Ikeda tried to parade around with the likes of Dr. King the local media eviscerated the SGI everywhere. Dr. Daisaku Ikeda pain a lot of money to Morehouse college and to Dr. Lawrence Carter. One writer wrote ” The assertion that Dr. Carter somehow dreamed this comparison up on his own and initiated the exhibit is disingenuous. SGI staff members constructed the exhibit, SGI PR spinners (Hi, Bill) tirelessly promote (and defend) the exhibit, and, over the years, SGI has spared no expense to tour the exhibit all over the world. This is SGI’s (and therefore Ikeda’s) baby. The SGI made a huge donation to Moorehouse College and “Self Promoted” photo exhibition.

Even in promoting the exhibition they did not get creditable reviews because it was a “Self Promotion” enjoyed by only SGI members. The issue regarding the Buddhist Gods is historically a Black allegory.

This is Fudo Myo who Nichiren Daishonin placed on the Gohonzon. The point is that this God is still Black. The picture is from a Japanese Cartoon. Why is this God Black is the question. Why are the ancient images of Shakyamuni Buddha in the image of an African?

One thing I have learned is that I am not too much of a firm believer in the press from my experience in business and what I have seen in the league.

Trying to use Buddhism to elevate African Americans in a cultural context is clearly exclusionary of other races, which is not the intent of the practice. Nichiren discovered this Buddhism to help ALL people reach enlightment thru Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo. I am enjoying my practice and have seen tremendous personal development and growth of fellow members. Obviously our practice is working. I don't follow no one if it doesn't lead me to the Gosho and help me to unlock my own potential, Nichiren said not to even follow the high priest if the message is not on the Lotus Sutra and to know that our practice is based on our internal manifestation of Buddahood, not thru President Ikeda or the Priesthood. The bottom line is, we all have our karma and it is up to us to change it through our practice.

Good Morning Anthony,

The bottom line is that we are practicing Buddhism as Nichiren taught and doing our personal human revolution. There is always two sides to every story, I just overcame a huge obstacle by a disgrunteld employee that was trying to sabotage my company, and Fox News picked up the story and had an investigative reporter interview me, I have the unedited version on my web site

Note : We edited Mr. Henry's Private Company information out of this message. This email was not meant for public but our private conversation. We are not interested in scoring points or making any personal attacks. We at the Proud Black Buddhist website hold the highest respect for Mr. Henry. Our aim is to present dissenting opinions and to give the public a clear and historical view of Buddhism in America.
