The Buddha writes; “All phenomena manifests its true nature.” This is another way of explaining Karma. Twenty-five years ago Michael Jackson sold more records than anyone on planet earth. Once upon a time Muhammad Ali was the world's most poplar human. Oprah Winfrey in a few years rose to become America's richest woman. These three individuals are Black but their Karma allowed them to achieve the highest in their professions worldwide. The same phenomena are with Barack Obama. All phenomena manifest its true nature and when time and conditions are correct phenomena happens and today we are witnessing the phenomena of Barack Obama. Actually at this point I can conclude this lecture in that I have given those who read this a window into Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism however I will take the lecture into more detail and explain more about the Buddhist concept of Karma and Ichinen Sanzen.

The fun thing about writing a Buddhist lecture and being a Black man is the fact that I can communicate Buddhism in a language that common people can understand. I will explain about Barack Obama and Buddhism using Ebonics or Black dialect or street language. Barack Obama while campaigning was on the morning ladies talk show called the view. They asked Barack the question of him being related to actor Brad Pitt and Barack commented that Brad comes for the most handsome part of the family. The women looked at Barrack and said; “you are a good looking man.” Lets be real, a good looking sexy man will get some votes, and this is Karma. Let us get into the ten aspects again.
1. The first aspect is Nyoze so
form or appearance or behavior that we can see. Let us be real, Barack Obama looks like a GQ fashion model. He is articulate, fashionable, intelligent a Senator and now a President. His appeal is so dynamic that he transcends the prejudice of race. Also the fact that he is multi-racial presents him with an international appearance that gives his a different dynamic. He can play basketball, wrap, write and sing and dance with rhythm. Lets face it the brother is cool.

2. The second aspect is Nyoze sho nature or character Barack Obama is the all American boy. He came from a single parent home and worked his way to becoming one of the most powerful men in the world. He also has the character of intelligence and integrity. All nature has an attraction to each other. There is a proverb; "birds of a feather flock together." Barack was reared by a white family and he has learned the nature of being White, Black, Asian. The nature manifests a power. Just as being a legal mind manifest its own power. One commentator said that Barack looks Presidential.

3. The third aspect is Nyoze tai entity or substance there is a clear substance called Barack Obama and he is now an American entity, hero and cultural icon.

4. The fourth aspect is called Nyoze riki or potential power or capacity. Barack Obama is a powerful entity. When you are handsome, intelligent, articulate you are powerful.

5. The fifth aspect is Nyoze sa is action influenced by potential power Obama has the power to influence.

6. The sixth is Nyoze in is inherent cause or a direct cause that brings effect and Obama has the power to bring about an effect. His strong faith and hope translate into an effect.

7. The seventh is Nyoze en is a relational or subordinate cause that supports an inherent cause . There is a relationship to the cause that Obama is making.

8. The eight is Nyoze ka which is a latent effect that results from an inherent cause. There are latent effects that Obama is making that has not happen yet.

9. The ninth is Nyoze ho is a manifest effect that appears when a latent effect becomes manifest. The manifest effect of Obama's effort could make him President of the United States of America.

10. The tenth is Nyoze Hon-makku-kyoto represents that Nyoze so and Nyoze ho are ultimately equal. The appearance and nature are consistent.

We told you about 3000 moments of existence and we are breaking this theory down in plain and common terms. All phenomena have “Three Realms of Existence.”
1. The first realm is the realm of the five components; 1. form 2. perception 3. conception 4. volition 5. consciousness

2. The next realm is the realm of Living Beings

3. The third realm is the realm of the environment

These realms are categories of phenomena arising from the unity of causes and conditions and do not operate independently of each other. All phenomena in the universe manifest the character or condition of the ten worlds. The ten world manifest itself in animate as well as inanimate objects. Here are the ten worlds.

1 Hell Physical or mental condition distress

2. Hunger desire

3. Animality or basic instinctual actions

4. Anger rage or passion to overtake

5. Humanity or tranquility peace or calm state

6. Rapture or heaven or Joy

7. Learning the condition of absorbing knowledge or adapting

8. Self realization or absorption in common term learning things by practice.

9. Bodhisattva is our compassionate or loving protecting nature or condition

10. Buddha hood is our highest life condition or enlightenment state.

There are those who may read this lecture and say boy this is a long Buddhist lecture. As they say in the Black Church; “I am fixing to bring you home now.”

Finally in the Gosho “The Kalpa of Decrease” Nichiren Daishonin writes;
““The true aspect of all phenomena can only be understood and shared between Buddhas.” In the phrase “consistency from beginning to end,” “beginning” indicates the root of evil and the root of good, and “end” indicates the outcome of evil and the outcome of good. One who is thoroughly awakened to the nature of good and evil from their roots to their branches and leaves is called a Buddha. T'ien-t'ai stated, “Life at each moment is endowed with the Ten Worlds.” Chang-an stated, “The Buddha intended these as his ultimate teachings. How could they ever be easy to understand?” Miao-lo added that “this principle is the ultimate revelation of his [T'ien-t'ai's] final and supreme teaching.” The Lotus Sutra states, “[The doctrines that they preach . . .] will never be contrary to the true reality.” T'ien-t'ai commented on this, saying that “no worldly affairs of life or work are ever contrary to the true reality.” A person of wisdom is not one who practices Buddhism apart from worldly affairs but, rather, one who thoroughly understands the principles by which the world is governed.

The Gosho clearly states; “ A person of wisdom is not one who practices Buddhism apart from worldly affairs but, rather, one who thoroughly understands the principles by which the world is governed. My limited logic tells me based on the Gosho that in common sense logic Buddhism is our every day life. Whether we talk about the election, the economy, our love life or whatever this is Buddhism. Let me bring this lecture home in a language that some of you may understand. There are many who cannot understand me because there are some people who have never caught hell. I mean caught real hell that you hurt so bad you don't even want to live anymore.

In the movie “What's Love Got to do with it” chronicling the life of Super Star Diva “Tina Turner.” This is the case; Tina is saying “This MF is whipping my Ass for Breakfast, Dinner and Supper how can I change my Karma. In the book “I Tina” Tina was chanting and at the same time she had a Gun sitting on her Buddhist altar and if Ike attempted to Kick her Ass again she was committed to protect herself. Now this is real Buddhism, real life and Buddhism penetrates real life circumstances and this is a fantastic religion.

In educating my wife who is from Ethiopia I was contrasting Buddhism in Christianity and I was explaining to her about the Christian concept of the devil and this idea of a place where you die and burn called hell. I told her that there is no scientific evidence of this devil but I explained to her about a man by the name of George W. Bush who took America into a preemptive war where over 4000 Americans died and over one million Iraq citizens have been killed. Under the Bush administration we have seen an unprecedented catastrophe and the worst omen worldwide since the great depression in 1929.

What does the Buddhist religion say about this omen? In America our economy is in a financial crisis and I want to know what the Buddhist religion says about this Omen?

The Gosho of Nichiren Daishonin is very clear regarding this great event of America selecting the First President of African decent. There is a Gosho called “Great Evil and Great Good.” I relate this Gosho to the election of the President of Barack Obama. The Gosho reads; GREAT events never have minor omens. When great evil occurs, great good follows. Since great slander already exists in our land, the great correct Law will spread without fail. What could any of you have to lament? Even if you are not the Venerable Mahakashyapa, you should all perform a dance. Even if you are not Shariputra, you should leap up and dance. When Bodhisattva Superior Practices emerged from the earth, did he not emerge dancing? And when Bodhisattva Universal Worthy arrived, the ground shook in six different ways. There is much to say, but as I am pressed for time, I will close. I will write again on another occasion.

The Gosho is clear Great events never have minor omens. When great evil occurs, great good follows. Let me refer to World war two after Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo in Japan. Did not most African countries gain independence from Europe? Did not China, India and South America gain freedom from England? Did not Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism make an entry at becoming a worldwide religion beginning after world war two?

The Gosho reads: Since great slander already exists in our land, the great correct Law will spread without fail. What could any of you have to lament? Even if you are not the Venerable Mahakashyapa, you should all perform a dance. Even if you are not Shariputra, you should leap up and dance. This great Buddhist law will spread without fail, what do we have to be sad about? The Gosho says; “you should leap up and dance The Gosho reads; “ When Bodhisattva Superior Practices emerged from the earth, did he not emerge dancing?”

As a strong Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist I am dancing my “ASS Off” just as the Gosho reads. The election of Barack Obama as President of the United States of America is the beginning of the Star Trek Generation. Science is coming to the White House and as our society becomes more logical the conditions will demand a higher religious teachings will emerge and a wise leader will adopt an enlighten religion and the teaching of Nichiren Daishonin are perfect for an enlighten society.
